Course Outline: The way we imagine ourselves to appear to another person is an essential element in our conception of ourselves. In other words, I am not what I think I am, and I am not what you think I am. I am what I think you think I am. (Robert Bierstedt)

Unit Five: Interpersonal relationships and Family Challenges
This is a relatively short unit. We have already covered intrapersonal skills in our Restitution workshop. Here we will have 2 specific journal entries dealing with the topic. We will look at positive relationships, conflict style, and marriage red flags in our class assignments. We will then culminate in a research project of your choice in the library.
Ted Talk: If you could have ONE WISH for your family, what would it be?
Ted Talk: If you could have ONE WISH for your family, what would it be?
Journal topics:
1) Write two scripts of a short conversation between two people dealing with the same topic. In the first script, one person is critical and destructive of the other's idea. In the other script, the person's remarks are helpful and constructive. You can choose any subject matter.
2) Situational letter: Choose one of the situations below and write a letter to a friend explaining the situation and how you feel about it.
a) Your grandmother has just moved into your parents' house because she is no long able to live on her own.
b) Your parent has just remarried after being divorced for the last four years.
c) The main wage earner in the family has just been laid off. Now what?
